Fruit Crop Outlook

After an unusual amount of sunshine and warmth during the spring and early summer, the fruit crop in our part of the Pays d'Auge looks to be a couple of weeks ahead of normal and extremely abundant. Cherries are still on the trees while apples, plums and walnuts are all developing at a rapid pace. Trees that were bare of fruit last year are positively groaning under the weight of it this summer. Our walnut tree, which blew over in a spring storm and has now been put upright again with the help of a chain anchoring it to a nearby tree, seems to be heading for one of the best crops we have ever seen.
